I love macarons. Like, seriously love them. I think that they are the most deliciously delightful treats ever invented. And, I’m actually not the biggest fan of cake (sue me). So when my sister Tayler suggested the idea of a macaron alternative for our wedding cake, I just couldn’t shake it. That’s why, in a few months time after we’ve said I do and cried through our speeches and eaten a yummy meal surrounded by our friends and family, we’ll be tucking in to our macaron tower instead of cutting a cake. I can’t wait.
We’ve got the wonderful Lysette from The Couture Baker making our tower, and I can’t wait to share photographs with you after the big day. For now though, I thought I’d share some photos of other amazing macaron towers from around the web for inspiration. I think they look brilliant and make a great cake alternative. Also, macarons are gluten free and can be dairy free if you don’t use butter icing for the fillings too.

Your macaron tower can incorporate a cake too if you’d like, either at the top or bottom like these. Alternatively, you could go for a small cake to sit alongside the tower for those who prefer a more traditional treat.

Cool, right? Have you ever seen a macaron tower at a wedding or party before? Let me know in the comments section below.
UPDATE:
It’s September of 2018, almost two years after our wedding, and I’m looking back on some of my old blog posts. I thought I’d take the chance to add my very own macaron tower here for you to see! We ended up getting a teeny tiny cake to go with it because Ryan loves cake and I felt bad. They were the most delicious macarons I had ever tasted, it’s making me drool just thinking about it.
Oh wow these all look so good! I love the idea of a macaron tower instead of cake, and they are so yummy too!
