June Favourites: Books, movies, TV, beauty, fashion & more

June was one of the busiest months I’ve experienced in a long time, hence the lack of blog posts here on Ashleigh Engaged. It was a brilliant month, though, complete with three weddings, a baby shower, a Walker Books event for my bookish blog, lots of work events (including an inspiring grad show and a Batman exhibition), and I’m sure there’s probably more that I’m forgetting! With all those awesome things going on, it does mean that June flew by in what feels like an instant, but I’m happy to be keeping busy and making the most out of life.

I’m feeling a little guilty about my wedding planning (or lack thereof), and am hoping to sort out a few things including the photographer and our save the dates in July, so keep an eye out for some blog posts about those.

Anyway, enough waffling, what I’m actually here for today is to share with you some of my June favourites. I’ve got a book, movie, TV show, restaurant, skincare and beauty products, jewellery and accessories to share with you.

June Favourites: Book – Stella by Helen Eve

_MG_0335A surprising favourite for me this month was Stella by Helen Eve, a book that reminds me a bit of Mean Girls and a bit of Pretty Little Liars but is also a bit deeper and darker than that. I’m working on a full review over on Ashleigh Online, but Stella did make the cut as one of the top ten books I’ve read so far this year.

June Favourites: Movie – Jurassic World

We went to see Jurassic World on Father’s Day for Ryan’s dad, and I kinda just went along for the fun of it. I had no burning desire to watch the movie, and I’m not even 100% certain whether I’ve seen the original Jurassic Park movies. However, I really loved Jurassic World. It’s pretty darn scary, but I suddenly find Chris Pratt massively attractive… Haha.

June Favourites: TV – Pretty Little Liarspretty-little-liars1

Now, I’ve heard LOADS about this show, but up until now I’ve never actually watched it. I’m not sure how I’m going to avoid spoilers, but I’ve watched about 10 episodes of season one so far this month and I’m a bit addicted. It’s fun, mysterious, there’s plenty of swoon-worthy guys and I’m growing really attached to the characters already.

June Favourites: Skincare

_MG_0332-2
Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup remover for lids, lashes and lips (£17). Such a gentle but effective makeup remover that I’ve been loving this month. I had a small sample bottle but now that I’ve finished it I’ll be going out to get some more.

Garnier Pure Active Anti-blackhead deep pore wash (£4). This is a really good, exfoliating face wash that I use from time to time when I feel like my skin needs a deep clean. It leaves my face feeling soft and smooth.

Witch Blemish Stick (£2.69) is perfect for quickly getting rid of a nasty spot.

June Favourites: Jewellery – Camera necklace

This is a shameless plug, but it’s also the truth, because this month I’ve been wearing my camera necklace a lot! I actually have my own Etsy shop, where I sell necklaces and earrings and soon bracelets. I make lots of them for myself, too, and the camera necklace (£5.99) is one of my favourites.

June Favourites: Place – Brown’s Restaurant

Honor-6-Plus-camera-test-3Located near Leicester Square and Covent Garden, Brown’s is a really lovely restaurant that I went to with my dad this month. I had this delicious beetroot, asparagus and goat’s cheese gnocchi, and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long, long time!

June Favourites: Accessory – Inateck Laptop Case

Inateck CaseI love this bright, fun laptop case from Inateck (£17.99). It’s super cute, and even comes with a little bag to carry your charger or a mouse.

What were your favourites this month? I’d love to know. Leave a comment or a link to your June favourites post below.

Jurassic World was such a great movie! I found it funny because a lot of reviews were saying that it wasn’t good because the plot was so shallow and surface level, but I don’t think anyone was going any major plot development.

Your laptop case is gorgeous, very eye-catching. 🙂
